Communication and Relationships

Recently, my son and daughter-in-law invited her parents and my husband and me to vacation with our granddaughter and them. The second day they called a family meeting to find out what everyone wanted to do. Each of us could suggest interesting activites and make plans to do them. Sometimes, all of us participated; other times, small groups went off on an adventure and others decided to hang out by the pool.

The results of this simple meeting reminded me of how important including everyone and communicating clearly is. The obvious benefits are that no one had to guess what anyone else might like, and we each got to share in a variety of experiences.
