Making Therapy Work for You!

Therapy can seem like a big black box to many people who are beginning individual or couples counseling. They know they want some help but are unsure what to expect. Here are tips to be pro-active:
  1. Ask questions. You are paying for professional services. You have a right and responsibility to yourself to understand what the therapist's approach is to your particular problem
  2. Remember you are the expert on yourself. If you don't agree with what the therapist is recommending, let her know
  3. Expect to be an active participant in your therapy.
  4. Show up on time.
  5. Ask for books to read to help you make progress.
